From 1985 to 1988 she studied oil painting with David Moore.  In 1993 Lee won the AME Bale Traveling Scholarship which enabled her to travel and live for a year in Europe.  Whilst there she studied classical painting and drawing at the Florence Academy of Art in Italy. She also toured the major European galleries and worked for a month in the Prado Museum, Spain, as a copyist. Subsequent study tours have taken Lee to New York, Boston and Washington.
